Relay For Life

Today was our Relay For Life here on Vashon.  This is an event put on by the American Cancer Society to raise money and awareness to help in the fight.  The basic idea is that people walk and their mileage is recorded and then folks give so much money per mile to the fund.  So I helped out by giving a ten minute talk at the opening ceremony and then I walked six miles.   It was fun to walk and talk just like always.

So, I went to Confession at church and we are off to a neighbor’s birthday party.  Then we will try and return to the Relay afterward.  Sort of a Vashon Saturday.  I am feeling pretty fatigued from the chemo treatment of a few days ago so I think that I will leave this right here for now.

Relay For Life may be in your neighborhood one of these days and it is a good way to give.  Thanks, love you, Felipe.

  1. Hola PFFelipe!

Farmer Cathy and I just returned from our local Rock n Ride benefit for Knock out Cancer. They started the day with a 40 mile bike ride in a steady pouring rain and then fun and games all afternoon and an Iowa Pork Chop Supper that would fill up the Michelin Man. The whole event was dedicated to two wonderful wives, moms, leaders, whose courageous battle against this insidious disease inspired hundreds of people in our part of the world. The moms fought the good fight, as St. Paul tells us we must, but in the end, Jesus decided they had done enough and called them home. Just wanted you and all the Vashonites to know you’re not out in that canoe alone. A couple of auctions and a lively dance followed and we’re sure the fighting moms were pleased. Hope you are too.

  2. PFJuan ~ you guys do not mess around there in Iowa! Thanks for that description of that high powered day. I definitely have to make one of those pork chop dinners. PFFelipe.
