Eagle Mom

My Rebecca's flowers.
My Rebecca’s flowers.

I have a few minutes before the service at Burton Church where Bonnie will preach. Went to 8 o’clock Mass and now a second church service. Yea, I’m going to be glowing in the dark.

So somehow I was going to write about an item that happened this AM here at the ranch. It was a pretty good starting point for a blog post and about the Wild Kingdom here which pretty much surrounds us here at all times. But today at church coffee I heard a really really good one that blew my story out of the water. I can’t even mention mine.

A friend asked me how my corn was doing and I answered that the deer were loving it. So, this got her started and she told this story. She was out by her chickens the other day when an eagle swooped down pouncing on one and started to try and lift it off the ground. So Linda, brave wrestling Mom that she is, runs at the bird yelling. Yea, and the eagle drops the hen and gets out of there quickly. Well, unfortunately the hen didn’t make it but the family had a handsome chicken dinner out of it and even better a great story. Yup, up to our armpits in nature.

So, have the run. Have a great Sunday. Love you, Felipe.

  1. Hola, Felipe! St. James sends you greetings from Santiago. Indeed, yesterday I finally finished the last 5 days of the camino I began in 2014 and my heart is happy while my soul is overflowing with gratitude.
I was reminiscing about our days together and telling everyone to watch out for your film – were your ears burning? As usual, have met many kindred spirits and kind folks from all over the world.
I have all of today (Monday) here and will return to Madrid tomorrow, then to France for a week.
    Alperfect!

    1. Mary Margaret ~ congratulations on your completion of the Camino. Very cool to hear from you from Santiago. After France are you back to California? We are coming down to LA and San Diego end of the month, maybe we can see you somewhere. Love, Felipe.

      1. What are your dates for SoCal? I’ll be back on July 28 and would love to see you!
Fr Joe officiated at the lovely English Mass in the cathedral this morning and gave an inspiring homily about the lessons of the camino, especially humility. Just as in Life, we have to give up control when the mountain we confront is not going to get any less steep or the person we meet is not going to be someone else.

Camino Love to you and Your Rebecca,
        Mary

        1. MM ~ hi so much! We are flying down to Burbank on Thursday the 28th and off to the premier that evening. Then Friday the 29th we will be LA at various functions. Then Sat the 30th we are driving down to SD. Sunday the 31st is Todd and Jessica’s wedding. Then Monday August 1st we drive back to LA and I am unsure of what comes next. We probably fly out Monday or Tuesday. Look at Phil’s Camino FaceBook page for times and places of events. We can make this happen somehow. Felipe.x
