A New Shirt

I think it is high time for the Laughing Jesus again!

I know that we have talked about our lucky shirts before here at Caminoheads. But today I am wearing a new shirt and maybe it will be a lucky shirt, don’t know yet. Heather, one of my beloved Marauders picked it out and got it for me recently in California. What a great trip we had and I have a memento that I am wearing today.

At the hospital this morning getting Pancho my portable pump back and getting hydrated. So I dressed up just slightly with my new shirt. I think it is fun to dress up just slightly just to show a little positivity, right? Can’t have too much positivity going on.

Steve Watkins is supposed to show up here in a couple hours to get a ride out to the Island with me. He will be with us for a short visit, hurrah. It will be long enough to compare notes and maybe figure out where we are going next. Going next is terms of priorities or thinking or thrust. I see Steve as one of the movers and shakers in this big world wide Camino party we have going on these days.

I have to put a plug in for Steve’s new book, Pilgrim Strong. I will tell you about it soon after I get started on it. Steve is delivering my copy today, I’m so honored. And just finishing up Pilgrimage by Mark Shiver, a bio of Pope Francis, so I need a new book. Not long ago I read Jesus a Pilgrimage by Father James Martin SJ. Do you think I’m in a rut? No way!

Well, got another hour here at the Treatment Center and I can collect Steve and get back to the Rock, the Island, in other words, Vashon. The weather is supposed to be good for the rest of the day, hallelujah. Love you immensely and intensely, Felipe.

    1. Heather ~ well it’s my lucky shirt in training. But things are looking good for a full fledged certification, just a formality really. I have been getting plenty of compliments on it. Thanks so much, you have a good eye. Felipe.x

  1. Whoa!! “Love you immensely and intensely, Felipe”. This is ENTIRELY too good a line. I’m stealing it and using it whenever and wherever I can. I may or may not give you credit for it, depending on how generous I’m feeling at the moment. You Rock, Amigo!

And Happy Birthday. Again. Marine. Flaunt it.

    1. Juan ~ Happy Birthday Marine! Spending the week end with Steve Watkins who I want you to meet. You guys need to know each other, fellow Caminoheads. Always Faithful, Felipe.

  2. I loved today’s post!! And it is great to acknowledge that there are “days like this”, sometimes we have one and we are distracted and just forget. But you have extra credits because part of this “positive day” took place in the hospital receiving treatment. This is why I tell you, you are an inspiration!

It is interesting how things connect… I continued to be amazed at that, despite I could even say it happens to me so often that I should be “used to”, but thanks God, I am not! When I was getting ready to go to Phil’s Camino ( 🙂 ), I thought of my work colleague M. And when we walked together (can’t believe it is true yet!!), among other people, I thought of her. She chatted to me yesterday to tell that just the day before she had arrived to Santiago… she only walked from Sarria and with a tour, but she also had gone thru cancer, and it was very moving for her too. M is not from my close group, so it was interesting that she chatted to me yesterday to tell when she got to Santiago, and that the date was just a day before I thought of her walking Phil’s Camino…
And that today, you wonder in your blog, where we are going next? and if we are in rut?! I have no doubts the Camino continues and that definitely, there is a big link connecting many here!

    1. Cris ~ good to hear from you again, miss your presence. I was just looking at the corn field to see if any of the cover crop we planted has come up but no nothing yet. We used the tapas spears this afternoon and were thinking of you. Thanks for your story about M. You know that we are all connected. The best to you, Felipe.x

  3. Missing you, Phil! We were so blessed to have you and Rebecca here…by what I have been hearing so many others were blessed by you too! A parent from school came up to me yesterday and said, “Hey, my wife had me watch that movie, you know about that guy…I am now planning on walking the Camino.” This man has health issues which can sometimes get in the way of his living. After seeing the movie, he has a whole new outlook.
I am so proud to know you, Phil…and Rebecca too!

    1. Loretta ~ we miss the Marauders! We had the perfect trip. So glad it all came together for us. Maybe we can do something more in the future. Thanks again, Felipe.x

  4. Like John, I was taken by the “Love you immensely and intensely, Felipe” line. It says a lot and makes the reader/hearer stop and think above and beyond the “I love you” that we hear all the time from people who mean it and from people that just say it.
I also appreciate the book recommendations. Keep up the good communications,

    Love you immensely and intensely,
    Ron

    1. Ron ~ I don’t think we can improve on immensely and intensely today. It’s good. Yea, check out some of those books for your winter reading. Miss you guys, Felipe.
