A New One On Me

My Rebecca’s landscaping.

Friday morning and this afternoon I will be jetting off to California.  Here I am going to a church’s mini camino to celebrate the Feast of St James and I find that My Rebecca has ordered a wheelchair for me at the airport.  What, wait a minute, new one on me.  All of of a sudden I am feeling like the Velveteen Rabbit thing where the poor guys eyes pop out and his joints are all wiggly but he is being loved.  Geez, really, is this what it takes?

This last chemo round has been really hard on me and I am all beat up.  I don’t know if I am going to walk at all down there but do have walking sticks from Catherine in my luggage.  What a deal.  I heard that we are having three showings of Phil’s Camino there with Q and A’s after each.  It’s been a while since I did one of those.

Well, I had better get back to packing and make sure I have all my essential stuff.  Trying to make it all good all the time.  That sounds pretty improbable at the moment but trying none the less.

Love you, Felipe.

  1. While walking in Spain we saw a Woman with no legs peddling a special bicycle with only her arms. There was a man running and walking with her to provide assistance on the steep hills. He told us she was hard to keep up with… and she was full of light, always greeting us with joy… she needed his help, couldn’t have made her Camino without his love… ride in that wheel chair of love today and let your light shine. Buen Camino Felipe, travel safe. You are so loved.

    1. Catherine ~ thanks for checking in with me. I can understand being pushed around in theory but it was kind of a shock for me actually participating. Guess it’s part of humbleness training. See you soon, Felipe.x

  2. “All good all the time.” I love that. I’m praying for your robust health on this trip to CA..that you relax into that wheelchair that’s been lovingly provided for you. And that you thoroughly enjoy blessing others with the film showings and Q and A’s.
    Buen Camino

    1. Hi Joy ~ thanks for your thoughts. We have been having a great time here. One of the things that is apparent is the fact that folks have been taking the film and showing it since last year. More films were bought and more folks will see those. Stuff is ripples back and forth on the pond. Felipe.x

  3. So… Joy says it perfectly, Buddy. You’ve got what they want – and you can give to them.

Been wondering how the new formula was 2x4ing you upside the head. We are wishing you well, and wellness, daily.

We’ve got 5th anniversary party here September 16, and hope you are too bored to do anything but come on down w/Becca. I will not make you dance. Sing, maybe.

I want you to tell me if you need any help around the ranch before winter. I want you to tell me if you need any help around the ranch before winter. Hopin that’s clear enough– it’d be great fun to pitch in with you.

Also, Rasmus is hoping to learn to hold up the fine tradition of Trygve & Sture– though he’s still young enough to chase chipmunks instead of hunt.

We just saw a Francis Ford Coppola film of The Odyssey. Dated in many ways, but thoroughly inspirational. Odyssius’ lesson about man and god, and the beautiful, symbolic role of his bow brought you to mind as we watched it over the last two nights. Jo checked it out from the library b/c they’re doing it at the Festival.
For fun, we watched the Aussie series “RAKE” on Netflix. The intro makes me laugh every episode. Farcical and just slapstick enough to keep you laughing.

Always checkin in here– keep it up! Caminoheads posts are our signposts to stay on the path.

    1. Steve-O ~ thanks for the giant update. We need to talk are the phone soon for our Fall plans. Hello to Jo. Pets for the doggie. Love you man. Felipe.
