That’s Australian from Angelia. Long day today but we are here in Terradillos de Los Templarios. New friends Alvaro from Madrid with the smiling eyes. The Sheriff is here (Sherif from Egypt).
We have just had some amazing success in that we have become as loud as the Italians and they are giving us the evil eye. How’s that?
Today was very long in the hot sun but we had amazing conversations and views. We are planning a birthday party for Angelia on the 16th. We cobble things together as we go, of course.
Maybe I can talk some of these characters into giving some of their comments on their day: Hoy ha sido um dia muy especial en el Camino. Conocer a esta gente y poder compartir grandes momentos con ellos te muestra el autentico significado de la vida.
Hmmmm today…started off easy…maybe because my best friend “medicine” had something to do with it 🙂 had 2 days off carrying a backpack…had to carry it today…everyone else was suffering..why am I so special!! I met Phil,Kelly and Mary while I was limping along on the Camino.they honestly saved my life. It’s funny…when you think you cannot go on any further…you can. It’s amazing the power of companionship. I could have given up so many times…but they pushed me on. They motivated me. The Camino…is not getting from start to end….but the experience in between.the people you meet..the conversations..the stories you tell and hear…the lightbulb moments… I have a love hate relationship with the Camino.my body is in so much pain but my mind is sooooo in love with the experience. Now…after the walk… We have a bottle of wine to drown our pain….ok I lie… We have several bottles of wine 😉
Before I started doing my Camino, I read on one of the blogs that if you like someone on the way, you will definitely meet more than once. Today am surprised how true that is! We ve been 4 days back and we still meet for the 3rd, 4th or maybe 5th time!
Yesterday I was enjoying my spoiled stay in Burgos for the 4th day in a hotel. I received a message from Todd who I believe he left the Camino back home! Todd is telling me he is in Burgos! What’s going on? I met Todd few minutes after and I couldn’t hide my shock when he told me he decided to return back to the Camino and he is on his way to meet the rest of the gang! I found myself walking back to the hotel, disregarding the reservation I already made till next day, packed my things and met Todd … Am joining you man. I believe that was one of the most inspiring things that happened on the way. Today, I felt I was in the peak of my energy to walk fast. I feel more connected to the Camino than ever!
Sherif. ( the sheriff that came with Todd )
I am going to post this quickly before the wifi disappears. Love you all, Phil.
You are having such amazing experiences. Having walked the last 100 kilomters of it several years ago, I can visualize a little of your journey.
You are entertaining and reflective. Buen Camino!
Hey Phil, we’re following your blog. Great pictures and narratives. Love your picture of the high plains.
