Walking the Cancer Camino

Stay warm.
Stay warm.

Padre Tomas, the unofficial official Padre of Caminoheads blog site sent this link in to me yesterday. It’s about an energic woman coping with her cancer. Heroic the way she tackles the topography of the California coast, the Camino Real. It makes me tired just reading it but God bless her and her Companera.

OK, be watchful today, don’t want anyone falling in any cisterns in the landscape. Hopefully we have that out of the way for a while. Off to breakfast, love you, Felipe.

  1. Hola Amigo!
Padre Tomas beat me to the punch! Just read this wonderful story yesterday as a forward to me by another friend who knows my fondness for tales related to walking. I immediately thought “gotta get this to PFFelipe”. There’s a truckload of your famous “exceptions” involved in that brave lady’s story. And geographically, you two aren’t that far apart.

Hope to start corn harvest this week. I’ll send you some pix!

    1. PFJ ~ hey, good luck with the harvest. Wish I was there to help, although I am up to armpits in paperwork harvest. Yes, she is something else, the woman that walks the Camino Real. Will have to say some prayers for her. OK, off to work, thanks, PFF.

  2. Beautiful story <3 The Padre sent it to me, too. He is something else, isn't he. Speaking of Padre Tom, here's another quick story about him. He did a very nice favor for someone I met through him and she recently called me to have coffee. She wanted to repay him in some way, and knew she couldn't just send him money, that he wouldn't accept that for his act of kindness. So she thought of a way to repay him: she gave a very generous donation to Phil's Camino! It never ceases to amaze me how kind we can all be to one another! Her generosity will go a long way towards paying some of our bills, which can appear pretty insurmountable right now. But I know that all I have to do is what I learned on the Camino: just put one foot in front of the other, and take the step that I am at right now. St. James is taking care of the rest. I am so happy to say that she is not alone in her generosity toward this film, and even though we have a lot of big bills coming up associated with finishing the film (Yes, you heard right, we are getting close to FINISHING this film!) I know that the right people will extend their generosity to cover those costs, and that a way is being made even where it may look like no way <3 Our good is assured, and with people like Fr. Tom holding us in prayer, we cannot go wrong!

    1. Fantastic story Annie! A home run! Thank you giving lady, thank you Padre Tomas, thank you Annie, thank you Saint James. We are all fitting together like peanut butter and jelly. Love it, Felipe.
