Exploring Our Digression

Well, there is this.

Unfortunately I can’t remember the exact name of the Thai cave rescue program. Would love to pass that on to you. And I would love to watch it again but need the title to find it. Can someone help me with that?

As we walked yesterday Dana and I were asking the question, why do we need a crisis to perform at our best? What is that temporary state that happens to us only once in a while? Can we tap into that and be there more often?

I don’t know, big questions that probably need big answers. Ronaldo in a comment yesterday related it to our experience on the Camino. Somehow we had that purity to outperform our “usual” selves. We surprised ourselves and each other by that.

Could it have to do with decluttering? Both situations have a “deck clearing” aspect. We don’t have the burden of all the trivia that normally inhabits our lives. There is one thing that may be bigger than we think.

Then there has to be a need and not only a need but one that has to be addressed immediately or quickly. We were pretty needy the whole time on the Camino from what I remember. We had to help each other when our self-help ran out which it seemed to do daily. Desperation is present.

Being in this groove with others offers a high, a high state, where we seem to feed on each other’s energy. There is that! It is rare but we know it when we see it and jump on it if we can. Am I right?

Just a few thoughts to pass the time. A gray morning here with a little wind out of the north and the leaves are falling one by one. Thanks for stopping by loves, Felipé.

It Began With Owls

My Rebecca's flowers.
My Rebecca’s flowers.

The owls woke me up at 4 AM. It seemed like they were right behind the house, maybe a half dozen of them. What a racket and then they woke up the ravens and they were adding their own luny sounds to the song. By the time I got organized to find my IPad to try and record it they had moved off to the Northeast. One of these times I will capture it and you will hear it. More wild kingdom in your future.

Then we were off to Mass, Catherine and I. We got a chance to have coffee with Father David our new parish priest. I got his email address so we can try and get him over to walk. He wants to walk the Camino so we can break him in. After that coffee we went up to town and had another coffee and accompanying doughnut. Well we had to do our tailgate theology routine in the supermarket parking lot.

Then we hosted My Rebecca church folks for a picnic. We had chicken and potato salad and all that good stuff. And some walked the trail with me and others watched Phil’s Camino with Rebecca.

So big day. Time to relax and watch the Mariners. The best to you, love, Felipe.

Hi you’ll, up early today thanks to steroids in my whowy zowy chemo. But I am trying to make the most of it. I just wanted to tell you of something that occurred yesterday on my way home from the hospital in Seattle.

I love the phenomenon of what happens when folks enter a new and different environment. People come into your environment, for example, and have a blast checking it out, when you have taken the same place for granted for how many years now? I had a close encounter yesterday on the ferry with a really great example of this.

I followed a green mini van onto the ferry, a family van with CA plates. We parked along the port rail, me right behind them. About one second later the doors exploded open and the whole crew was out pointing at the details and taking pix. They were practically hang off the side checking out all the sea life. Loved it, what enthusiasm. “Oh look, a jellyfish!” They were great.

And we are traveling to California next week to do our monthly movie duty. We will be in LA, La Jolla and San Diego. So we will hopefully be as delighted with that exotic environment. Can’t wait. Not only new place but new folks.
We will be blogging away from there.

Enthusiastic loves, Felipe of the North.
