Looks like another hot one today. July on Vashon, the grass is mostly dying from lack of water. It begins to look like another place this time of year which will get back to being green in September and October. Sitting writing this post in the cool early morning before the hustle and bustle of the day.
I am working on getting the firewood in for the winter, a little behind schedule this year. The tractor is humming away powering the hydraulic log splitter. And voilá out comes fuel for those wet dark months.
In the neighborhood it is Anamaria’s birthday tomorrow. She walked with her buddies Alida and Laura and they all joined Kelly and our gang on the trail in 2014. Hot days there too in Pamplona, Estrella and Viana in August. Anamaria became known as the Princess of Viana. Maybe I can find pic. Happy Birthday Amiga!
Thinking about yesterday with all the great pilgrims that came to walk Phil’s Camino. Not only walk but converse and share information and inspiration. Many good things came out of that exchange. Have to mention that Dan from Olympia got a boat load of extra credit for showing up with his official t-shirt.
Some talk yesterday centered around the Lourdes Pilgrimage also. And it sparked some reflections which maybe we can cover tomorrow. Graces are still coming to us from there and may they continue.
So, thank you Dan and Jeanne, Chuck and Linda and Joe and Terry for sharing the trail yesterday and for bringing your energy. Please come back again when you get a chance. And Happy Birthday to the POV. You all make it happen!

Good morning Phil
Well, this is Jan…your “Air Tahiti Nui seat partner.” Bill and I went to Santa Cruz to see your documentary last night and found it very moving as well as inspirational. Loved seeing Father Tom and meeting Annie. Now I finally understand what you told me when you talked about the Camino in your “backyard!” Such a beautiful, peaceful area to walk, pray, meditate and think. I can totally relate as my special place since my Stage IV diagnosis last year has become my large yard…..not even a breath as large as yours, but a place that I pray in peace and nature..almost daily while I walk.The walking, praying, meditation has done wonders and I feel so much graditude to our God for giving me this time, grace and space to grow closer to Him and all my wonderful family, friends and Pray-ers …some who I dont even know…who lift me up daily and I do the same for them. I know with God that “All things are Possible” and have felt very much at peace in body and soul all year. Of course, Lourdes enhanced all of this and I find myself saying the Rosary and petitioning Our Mother Mary and St. Bernadette now like never before. Also have decided to begin talking to my inner self and asking my cancer to shrink…if it has to stay at all. Anywho…thank you for your blog….I will be reading it often now and thank you for just being the person you are. You and Rebecca are welcome in San Jose…any time you can make it.
Jan ~ hello and welcome to Caminoheads. Great to hear from you again. Thanks for checking in with the traveling show there. The film road trips are a bunch of fun for all. Ah, I wasn’t aware that you got the Stage Four Merit Badge also. Hope that you don’t mind me joking but it seems the only way that I can handle this stuff. Well, I’ve been stage four for five years now, so far so good. I tell folks that I’ve got an A in cancer, can’t do any better. Yea, it is a Camino in itself.
