Cizur Menor

We walked over every possible type of surface today but ice and snow and maybe wall to wall carpet.  Walked through the beautiful city of Pamplona this afternoon.  Also, need some help on the “Bear Rabbit” song.  What is after mr. Bluebird is on my shoulder?

Hi. Jessica here. Phil handed me his iPad and told me to write. Firstly, Phil and Kelly are cheeky, funny, deep, and absolutely easy to film. Everyone around them are drawn to them. And the ladies we are eating dinner with we’re naming all the things they loved about Phil and Kelly before they arrived for dinner.

Secondly, I must mention pace. Todd and I are participating as much as we can in walking and are learning just as much as the next pilgrim about pace. Today my pace was jumping off a bridge into water, eating ice cream in the street where the bulls run and walking just a little less than was expected to rest my knee a bit. Pace is everything. Find your pace!

Zubiri

We made it to the hostel before the rain came.  Walked about twenty kilometers to this town of Zubiri .  This morning was very private for us but we fell into a great group for the afternoon.  Two Dutch sisters, agal from Sweden and a fellow from Egypt.  We talked our heads off and the kilometers went by quickly.

This is an amazing fact finding mission and I can’t wait to share it with you as it unfolds.  Will try and include some pix next.  But the lights are going off here in a few moments.  Tomorrow is coming soon, Phil.

Roncesvalles Plus

Kelly and I are sitting in the  Casa Cabina celebrating our victory.  It wasn’t pretty but we got it done!  And what a beautiful area.  I am celebrating also because today’s walk is supposed to be the hardest o the Camino and today is my worst day in the chemo cycle.  So, what could be better than to get to our destination before dark on a long walk, yes?

This is such a wonderful experience.  I wish you all a chance to be here sometime in the future.  It makes want to learn Spanish and move in!  Thank you St James for helping today, Phil.

P.s. –  Today at lunch in Orrison there were fifty eagles swirling around overhead.  An omen?

St. John Pied de Port

Ok gang we are here!  Eating dinner with Jessica and Todd.  Much to do this evening so need to keep this short.  Todd and I met because we were photographing each other, him on the. Ground and me shooting out the bus window.  A good start I would say!  Saint James is definitely afoot.  Phil.

The Countdown in Hours

God willing Kelly and I will be jetting off at 6:11 Seattle time for the big adventure.  Follow us, be with us as the Camino unfolds.  It has already been an amazing journey and we haven’t left yet.  How does that work?  Thanks for all your prayers and support.  St. James in Afoot, Phil.

At Swedish

Treatment today and I am what is called a frequent flyer here.  Don’t know exactly what the benefits are but it is generally a good deal.  Ivette is here with me.  We met a great woman in the waiting room who had beautiful spirit.

I am working on my new Apple mini.   It is a challenge but I’m learning.  Will be fun to get the blog up and running in Spain.

In treatment we are right across from the nurse’s station and there is lots of action.  We’re back a few hours later and earlier I was trying to maybe describe the scene.  Thoroughly professional to start.  But after that all the nurses that I had worked with over the last three years stopped to check in.  That’s my excuse for not getting my blog post done anyway.  What a great bunch.  Sort of a party goin’ on.

OK, I running out of steam and have to check in with the  RCG (Root Canal Gal) in the AM.  What ever you’re  doing, keep it up.  SJA,  Phil (aka Lucky).
