I am so craving a BLT and a cob of corn. Of course they would have to be tomatoes and corn from here at Raven Ranch. I picked a few ears last night but it’s just not ready. But there is a lot of it coming. And the tomatoes, they are all green but again there is a lot of them. Yea, I will have to put in a revised ETA of August 15th for all that, the bacon we have.
Have one more itty bitty chapter in my Medjugorje book. I don’t know if I have ever read a book quite like that before. That part of the world is very foreign to me for one. The apparitions themselves seem so unusual which they are. Marjana’s good nature and durability seem amazing under all the circumstances. And it’s statis with the Vatican is still not settled I think. It is all sort of surreal in it’s unusualness. The book definitely broadens my view of things. Thank you Loretta for putting it in my hands. That title is My Heart Will Triumph.
I forgot that a few weeks ago I was including in the daily post a quote from Thomas Clark on Walking. Let see if I can find that to get it going again. Well, it seems to be avoiding me for the moment. Perhaps a couple of quotes from the Medjugorje book:

I don’t understand the whole Medjugorje experience either. Just like I don’t understand the Camino, and now the experience of walking with you and Rebecca on your camino. But all 3 have been spiritual journeys. These journeys have enriched my life in a way I never could have imagined. I feel blessed in a way I had never known before.
Thank you for your invite to walk with you. We are so very glad we did! We all left Vashon ready to live life to the fullest and have not stopped talking our time on Phil’s Camino.

I love BLT’s and corn on the cob too. The corn is just now coming on here in Olathe, CO and that is the best corn found in Colorado. I haven’t a tomato that the way my taste buds remember them from my years as a youth from my Grandfather’s backyard garden in Parkersburg, WV. Even the ones I grew in our backyard some years back didn’t quite match up to my memory’s taste buds.
The peaches found here in Palisades, CO are also the very best peaches I have ever had anywhere. I am going to grab a crate of those before we hit CA. (We head back to SoCAL on Sunday.) I would make you a peach pie Felipe if I could think of a way to get to you. Will have to think on that.
Our kitchen remodel is going soooooo slow. Between dodging the rain drops, thunderstorms and hail to get things sanded and painted outside and having to entertain our daughter’s dog while trying to work, it has been much slower progress than we had hoped. But it is moving along and will make a good difference. We won’t get the island done before we have to leave on Sunday, so when we come home at Christmas we will have to finish the back-splash, the island and work on our master bedroom. All have been so in need of TLC since we bought the place some 21 years ago. It seems as though we are always behind our peers. Most of them have their house paid off and all is up-dated and nice. But when you have 4 children to raise and help out it seems we are constantly doing the things many of our friends did about 10 years behind them. Not that I care about that. I just wish things were done here so we could enjoy it and have people over to enjoy it.
Felipe the views from our house are amazing! Yesterday we had hail and entire main Douglas Mountain Road was covered in white IN AUGUST when it supposed to be 80-90 degrees. It has rained and/or stormed here everyday since we have been here. Down right cold too, we have a featherbed and comforter on the bed. The temps have dipped down into the low 50’s at night. But man is it a glorious “GREEN”! You know that color we rarely see in SoCAL. I shouldn’t complain really, because I would take this any day over 100+ degree monotonous heat. I have gotten out to walk a few times, but not like everyday. Too much work to do!
I got my teaching schedule sort of, they send out an “Offer of Instructional Employment”. You have to say yes or no as to whether you are interested in teaching those courses they need taught and to the times, dates, etc. They offered me 3 courses of which none of them I have ever taught, which is fine, but I have really have no idea what the curriculum is as they only send the course number and abbreviation. I said, “Yes”. Being the risk taker I am I figure whatever they are I will go with the flow and I am always appreciation of the opportunity to influence “young minds”.
As that is the case, the one class is on Tuesday and Thursdays from 11-12:20 (First time I am teaching an under-graduate course, I usually only teach master level students) from September 5 -December 16th. So, my travel plans will have to accommodate that. I could get a cheap flight on Thursday and come back on Monday evening some weekend in October if you and Rebecca have any availability on your calendars?
Well, long enough lunch for me so better get back to the labor. Love you and miss you lots Felipe and hello to Rebecca for me too.
PS: I showed my DVD of Phil’s Camino to some friends/neighbors here on Douglas Mountain Dr. last night as I have talked so much about it, I thought it would help for them to see what all the fuss was about. She loved you and the film. I never get tired of seeing it!
Carol ~ gosh that was a mountain of news. What do I expect from someone how hangs out in Colorado. OK, there are two weekends that are going to be my Pyrenees weekends in October that I don’t plan on going anywhere. I am trying to leave time in October to get over to eastern Washington to go bird hunting but it won’t be those weekends. So the ones you could come on are the 12-16 or 26-30. That would be cool to see you, Rebecca is excited. Felipe.x
