It’s Called “Sabbath Moment”

Stop by for coffee; we are ready for you.
Stop by for coffee; we are ready for you.

My breakfast eggs are on to boil, the fire is going strong, Aretha is singing Gospel in the background and I am savoring this week’s Sabbath Moment. Caminoheads comes out once a day to report on a journey, Sabbath Moment comes out weekly, Monday morn, to bring a deeper, broader look at the our world. It is written by a good friend and Vashon Islander Terry Hershey. Do check it out because if you like this you will like that for sure.

Terry and I fly on the same Spiritual Blue Angels Flying Team. Flying wingtip to wingtip with Grace without a worry. Today he was talking of a Christmas battlefield truce that happened in World War One. A sort of wave of kindness in the middle of the opposite. And this very morning, minutes before, I was sending kindness into the war zone that is my chest. Mine being sort of a mini of what Terry was inspired by and writing about. Amazing.

OK, making chicken salad for lunch for Our Jennifer. Moving on to handle the day, love you all, Felipe.

  1. Buenas Dias Amigo Felipe!

It’s been very “Seattle-like” around here the last couple of days. And totally un-December like, with temps in the 40’s, 50’s, and even touching 60. I’m more accustomed to cold and ice these weeks of Advent. We still haven’t been able to make the FB connection, or you would already know that I’m doing an “Advent Activity” series on my Page. I look for particularly uplifting stories on other peoples FB pages or in the news in general and post them on my page for the day. Getting lots of nice feedback on that, with my emphasis on reminding people of how much good plain old folks do with one another. Any sort of media source or what we used to call “The News” is just full of hate and mayhem, we all need reminded that, for the most part, people are good and are good to one another. That was one of my goals on my Camino, proving to myself that that is the case the world over. I was not disappointed.

    Have a joyful day,

    1. PFJuan ~ “must be those Rooskies testing those atomic bombs again.” That’s what I heard when young about any kind of weather anomaly that came along. Yea, this new one is strange but true.

So, I will get My Rebecca and you hooked up on FB. That shouldn’t be so hard. She is on there every day, wherever there is? I am about three hobbies behind right now so chances are you won’t see me in the near future.

But your Advent idea is terrific I must say. I was trying to do a consistent Advent talk-up on Caminoheads but other things jumble in. Would love to read your stuff though. I always bounce off something you are up to and get into some good territory as result.

OK buddy, time to get some shuteye here, Felipe, Farmer Pilgrim type, 1 each.

  2. Last night at dinner we recalled that same story. WWI Christmas Eve a cease fire was called and the German and the Allied troops sang Christmas carols back and forth to one another from their respective trenches. May it be so once more within you and between all the world. SJA! Right?

    1. Catherine ~ man, I just had a nice reply going and I hit the cancel button by mistake. But yes, this thing that happened in France years ago was one of those “thin moments” for sure. When I think about that event I think about how much trust it took by all parties to pull it off. It was an inspired moment for sure. Neighborly loves, Felipe.
