Cross Country Travel

Randy Dick, Felipé and Shari Annes.

Right here right now I am writing this on the bus in honor of Cris CSABC. She does a lot of writing on the bus down there. Do they drive on the right side of the road or the wrong side? Just wondered. It is bumpy and jerky. Man this takes special talent. Maybe I could get used to it.

Flying to Orlando today to be at the American College of Sport’s Medicine annual get together. We have a showing tomorrow of Phil’s Camino and then the QandA for 45 minutes. And will have some time to mingle with folks before and after.

And it’s all about making connections this weekend. Shari from our distribution company has been there for a few days setting things up for me. She is my handler for this event. I could get used to this treatment.

Well, OK I have experienced the writing on the bus. And look we are at the airport. We are supposed to have wifi on the plane so will be back to you then. Well the plane wifi didn’t happen but here I am at the hotel at a little after midnight. and there is wifi here for guests.

I had some food and drink with Shari and Randy a minute ago and we will be up early in the morning to have breakfast with the president of this outfit. Getting to meet some of the folks. There are something like five thousand professionals here involved with some aspect of sports medicine. Our showing is a special added on feature to this whole shindig on the last day. So we are currently guessing at how many folks will show up.

But we are ready and willing to do our best. Sorry this was such a long drawn out post today but it covered three thousand miles. As Steve-O CNWBC says, “We never close!”

Til tomorrow loves, Felipé.

  1. Phil, appreciate the on the ground updates on this be and talk. God has gifted you in this be and talk:). And of course the walk!

I have not been to walk with you because I am in spring. So much work. While I was watering all the baby plants today I thought, they need water over and over, we need the Holy Spirit over and over. Entering into that prayer…m

    1. Michelle ~ so much appreciate you. Thanks for holding down the fort. Keep it all growing, Felipé.x

  2. Phil,
What you do and who you are is such a gift for all of us. It’s a reminder of how we need to live life…to live it well and to live it for others. What a blessing you are!!! What a treat it will be for all those who will be meeting you this weekend!

    1. Loretta ~ I have a few moments here in the early morning to say hi. Am off to the whirlwind of the event in an hour. Thanks for checking in and thanks for the continuing support. Hello to the Marauders. Felipé.x

  3. Querido Felipe,

I am honoured! Yes, you are right, I do a lot of writing in the bus, in the train and in the metro. From Banfield, where I live (in South Great Buenos Aires), I have to go at least 3 times a week to “Buenos Aires city”, the place where I work is in downtown and very central, but it is actually “all the way across Buenos Aires” from where I live. I have a few options available to travel:
1- Walk 3 blocks to the train station; take the train to the Central Station which is the other extreme where I work, so there, I connect with the metro until it finishes after crossing the whole city. After leaving the metro, I walked 2 blocks, bordering a beautiful park and beautiful buildings, take the lift to the 15th floor and get to my office. It is not as complicated as it looks, and you avoid the protests which abound lately, and the traffic -although still takes around 1 hour, but it is too crowded, and you feel more like a sardine in a can than a person in a train.
2- Take something like a private bus, which are mini-van, where you are guaranteed you will have a seat (otherwise they don’t stop). They end in the heart of Buenos Aires, where the famous “obelisco” is, and from there I take the metro or if my shoes are adequate, and my backpack is not too heavy, I walk to the office; I tend to walk more in the spring and summer, as I get there around 6:40 AM and it is too dark. This takes a bit more than 1 hour and it is way more expensive, but now, that I am very tired, I tend to to use it over the train because I can kind-of-sleep a bit more, and be more comfortable.
3 – I drive. This is the most comfortable but the most limiting one for me because that means 2 hours enduring the heavy transit… when I could use those 2 priceless hours to get back to emails, read and do some writing…

So, these days, with all that goes on at home, 2 is my option to go. At 6:00 AM I catch the van in my corner, tucked in for a little bit more, and then, I turn on my phone and read or write comments, or write some notes for my journal. I do this on my phone, so my nails are always short… prices a lady has to pay to do writing in a smartphone!!!

I must say that when I used option 3, I have turned into audiobooks and those conversations I have shared with you. Those conversations have allowed me to learn about great people, many led me to great books too, and my mind, heart and soul expanded…

Lots of people ask me why I didn’t move to the city… and there are many reasons to be honest, but one I always have given is that I would lose my daily hours of reading… And when I don’t read, I am not happy…

Sorry, I made this post about me! Hope you are having fun with the Orthopedists, Nutritionist, Physiotherapists, and any other colleague attending the congress, they tend to be an energetic bunch!

    See you super soon…!!!

    1. Cris ~ wow, we got the full transportation rundown. I enjoyed the hustle and bustle of it all. Maybe Banfield needs a branch office to accommodate you. Let everyone commute in to you. I’ll speak with management. But I did successfully do some writing on my bus ride to the airport. So, I got a feel for it.

I am back at the ranch on the red couch trying to make sense of my blog situation. Danger Zone just checked in before he starts a five week silent retreat. So, I saw all his peeps down in Orlando without his help. It was a very cool experience. Just worn out at the moment.

Thanks for your update. Thinking of you loves, Felipé.
