Ah Felipe, Are You Sure?

Walk like you own it!
Walk like you own it!

Phil’s Camino – the Trail just keeps on a going.  We had a nice walk and tapas today on a beautiful afternoon.  We are doing our best to keep the Camino going in our hearts and minds.

So, we finished our 504th lap today logging in 444 km total.   We are still on the Meseta, the wide open central plain of Spain, although near the end.  Coming up is the town of Marsilla de las Mulas and beyond the city of Leon.

Here is our current schedule:

Monday 0900-1000

Tuesday 1600-1700

Thursday 0900-1000

Sunday 1600-1700

Hope to see you soon.  Felipe.x

  1. Buenos Dias, Amigo!

My bike training ride yesterday turned into a walk/ride session, with the inevitable “Camino” connection thrown in. I’m working on getting my not-as-young-as-it-used-to-be body into shape for the annual Ragbrai event. I”m fortunate to have a great Rail Trail relatively close to home and I ride on it a lot. The mission for the day was to ride to the eastern terminus of it, 15 miles, and ride back again. Generally, that wouldn’t qualify for much of a training ride, but I’m still getting my New Hip used to being part of an old body. I got within 3 miles of the end when I came upon a stretch of trail with a brand new 2″ layer of unpacked rock chips. This is the material they (County Parks) use to patch up the trail, so I “assumed” (you know, that word that’s composed of “make an ass out of u and me), that it was just a patched area. I don’t know how much bike riding you do/have done, but you can’t ride a bike thru 2” of unpacked gravel. So I got off and started to push, thinking it would only be a hundred yards or so. After half a mile of this, it finally dawned on me that the trail was going to be like this for the last three miles! Camino thought: not what I expected, but that’s the way it is and I’ll just accept it. So I walked pushing the bike until the next road intersection and followed that road to the end town.

Yeah, Amigo, the Camino never ends 🙂

    1. Amigo~ I like the way you handled that. And like your lesson on how we assume. Maybe that’s one of the things we do best, we assume. But in the end you figured it out, probably even without map and compass and got some exercise which was the point of the whole thing.

I’m really assuming that I am going to get my tractor running today. I need it going to work my log splitter to get our firewood for next year processed. You know, I made the old mistake of thinking I could rebuild the carb no problem, another assumption.

OK, I have a blog to write, talk to you soon. Hello to the fam, Felipe.
