Hurrying

Always moving forward sometimes gracefully and sometimes not.

What I mean is that in this one little thing I am hurrying. My IPad Mini, my trusty IPad Mini is having problems. It is getting harder and harder to work with it. So, I wanted to say hello before it went haywire.

Maybe I can complete a few thoughts here in the meantime. I seriously need some help with this computer problem, a fix or maybe a new machine. The screen is streaking and fogging and pulsating with all manner of distractions. Geez, just trying to get the blog out.

This dark time of the year seems similar in that it is just harder to do the standard stuff. Everything is more complicated and time consuming then in the “easy” season. Well, maybe not everything. Maybe it’s the season to do other things. I guess that is what I am trying to winnow out here. Just what is it good for or what is it a better time for?

Well, it seems like I am all questions today without much more. Other folks have been doing a better job with this lately, Steve-O and Farmer John. But that is what we are here for to help each other out. I need to reread their material.

  1. It might be that this darker season is a time to ‘be’ more than a season to ‘do.’ It is 3 am here in Spain and i couldn’t sleep so I picked up the computer. I wish that you had posted this 24 hours earlier, I just brought our iPad mini to Spain and really don’t need it, I could have sent ti your way easily.

    But a new one is likely a better solution. It will get resolved.

    1. Ronaldo ~ oh, the right thing will happen with my computer, one way or the other. It is just very bothersome here in the short term. What is the elevation in Astorga. Do you guys get snow there? Felipé.

      1. We are at about 2850 ft and while we get to see snow on mountain tops in the distance and snow flakes in the air, I am led to believe that accumulation in town here is rare. That said, there was a snow just after we left for the states in November that did whiten the scenery to the west of us. Time will tell.

        BTW I am writing this on my iPad mini, a device I seldom use for writing,

        1. Ronaldo ~ thank you for the situation report on Astorga. It seems the perfect place, snow in the distance. No actual slogging around in it, well rarely. I love my iPad Mini and that is all I have used for the entire history of the blog. It is oh so portable. I have learned to type with my two thumbs and never have to have a surface to rest it on. We are going to crack it open and mess with the insides this morning, check connections and blow it out with compressed air. Have to try. Hello to Ann. Felipé.

  2. Don’t you dare denigrate your daily blog writing–your comments are simple, thoughtful, and to the point–the newspaper on my doorstep! Keep up the good work. As for the iPad, have you thought about calling the Apple Help Line? A real person is there to help you. I think it’s 1(800)MYAPPLE, or check the Apple web site. And I think it’s available 24/7. They are just twiddling their thumbs waiting for you to call.
    Phil, my friend, You have more stamina than an iPad–2,000 + entries is just wearing that little guy down.

    I first read that quote a few months ago and must say I never thought about how I walked upon the earth before with the touch of my footprints. It has provided me with a new awareness of my stride.

    I also had a similar response to your post as Renaldo though I like how he put it into the context of a time to be instead of a time to do. I see winter as a time which provides us the opportunity to rest more, refocus, and renew ourselves. A time of reflection if you will where we do not need to keep the pace of other seasons. It can be challenging for us “doers” to take a step back and just rest in being. Perhaps think of this time as a time to practice the art of the inner pilgrimage. 😊

        I am reminded of my 2015 pilgrimage in Italy that was 3 1/2 weeks long. I became very sick after the first week and was really struggling. Fr Murray Bodo, one of our pilgrimage leaders pulled me aside and suggested that God wanted me to have an inner pilgrimage. My frustrated response was that I could have an inner pilgrimage for thousands of dollars less back home in California. I obviously wasn’t willing to practice the art of inner pilgrimage at that time. However, because I had to slow down I did end up having some very profound Spititual experiences in Assisi which I wouldn’t have had otherwise, and it was a form of preparation for my return to Assisi in the fall of 2018 where I have even more profound experiences of my heart opening. This time of rest could also be a time of preparation for something more.

        My aunt is still here with us but will be moving back to Santa Maria at the end of December. We have finally worked out a place for her to live at an independent living facility.

        1. Thank you for that history Rho. Yes, I see your point. It all seems a bother at first but is a phase or stage to “walk” to bring a new understanding maybe. In other words it has a purpose. Yes, let’s go with that. Felipé.x

  4. I like that Felipe, “a phase or stage to walk to bring a new understanding”. Our walk may not go according to our wills, plans, or desires but this unexpected or unwanted experiences may end up contributing more to our life journeys than if they go or had gone the way we wanted.
