The Day I Dream Of

Under the cherry tree by the tapas table. You know that place.

What a gorgeous morning here at the ranch.  I am out in a chair on the deck writing you and it is the perfect temp.  And all the little birdies are chirping.  The sun is filtering down through the trees.  The perfect morning, thank you to our Creator/ Sustainer.

I feel recovered from the trip to Pacific Grove.   The trip back was trying and took a lot of energy with it’s all it’s flavors of glitches.  But I had plenty of opportunities to practice my serenity.     But here under the cherry tree by the tapas table all seems right.

We are hosting Steve-O and his dog Rasmus here for a few days.  Always interesting times.  They went claming and got some geoducks (goo-e-ducks) and we had pasta with clam sauce last evening, a local delicacy.

We have a plan for this afternoon and evening.  Our walk is at 4 and some folks from the mainland will be here plus Catherine and Dana.  Then tapas and off to see the Pope’s new film at the Vashon Theatre!

Right now Steve and I are going to put in some time in the corn which is teetering on the brink of weed-dom.  And a deer got in and thought the sunflowers were tasty.  It’s all a constant battle.  I need some minions, maybe a dozen please.

Well, you see the picture here.  Will be blogging from the hospital tomorrow.   The  two sides of the same coin.   But it is all do-able and with the right attitude, enjoyable.

Oh, the horses are here from next door.  Yup, well time to go and battle the weeds.  Have a great day where you are.  Summer loves, Felipe.

  1. Dear Felipe,

Oh, yes! I know that place! But a different view… will need to try the summer time next time to see it as it is in the picture… I was just thinking that your visitors are always treated to some local delicatessens… I was treated with the Chukars (is that right?)… a “city girl (not so girl!)” as I am, had no idea something like that existed, and even less, do I know how they arrived to the plate… all I know is that it was delicious with the crispy bacon in the outside…!

What a fun day awaits for you… looking forward to hearing about the tapas and afterwards.

Spanish love to all the Tapas table people,
Cris (South American Bureau Chief on a mission abroad!)

    1. Cris ~ yes, geoducks and chukars, food of champions! Good to hear from you. Here at the hospital today. Sitting here listening to the weeds grow back in the corn. Keep up the good work, Felipe.x

  2. Felipe:

Soon a picture of the corn would be in order, after you have a chance to unweed or deweed them whichever is the correct botany term. I am glad you have recovered. Not sure that I have. Took me 6 hours to drive down on Sunday from Pacific Grove, but it actually was pretty smooth sailing considering it was a Sunday and usually traffic is pretty bad around here on holiday Sundays, especially. But for some reason during my class last night I was a really not up to my usual chipper and positive self. Today I feel much more like myself. I don’t like myself when I am so tired that it is hard to focus. Well, I will just have to make it up to the students on Wednesday. I had a guest speaker phone in last night and do a presentation about “Digital Literacy”. She at least was some consolation for me being a little lack luster. It was done all through computer so that was cool.

I am glad Steve is there and you all will be having a time of it, but hopefully a little more relaxing than dealing with a presentation. A movie review would be good too.

Love you lots, Felipe and we miss you lots down in SoCaL. Huggs to Rebecca and all up there.

    Carol

    1. Carol ~ yes, a shot of the almost knee high corn would be the thing. Great to be with you again. I am going to check out the Port Townsend Festival website and see what’s happening. Thanks, Felipe.x
