Catherine is going to pick me up in a moment. Off to be at the early Mass at St John Vianney’s at 0800. We’ll get our spiritual batteries recharged.
I hope my day is reasonable. Yesterday I was really fatigued from the chemo. Could barely work the TV remote, that’s bad. Feeling half way decent at the moment.
Thinking of Maggie on the Camino west of Leon. What an inspiration for us, yes? I wish I were there to roll Compeed out ahead of her like a red carpet.
Go get’em Maggie! Can’t wait for her musings on her pilgrimage.
One of the readings today was from the New Testament book of Hebrews. It just jumped out at me concerning having confidence to pray for oneself and one’s own needs. This is from a very modern version called the Message. Hebrews 4:16 says: “So, let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.”
This has to do with my struggles described in the October 13th post: A Mix Of Confidence And Desperation. Well, that’s all I have for today. Still feeling tired. The best to you, love, Felipe.
Re: the Miracles post, as we talked about–
Yeah, right. Zucker is right. I tend to think miracles are in their recognition, not in lightning strikes of abrupt change and transformations.
That said, your life has evolved at light speed, it seems. Do you reflect on how you have become “yourself” in the last few years? How you have become important to so many in ways you would not have imagined? How they have probably become more to you, too, with more dimensions to them than you may have known before?
It’s more than getting more geezer-ized, I think. It’s all the fragility of life made plain before your eyes that has allowed you to deepen your focus on the here and now and also look beyond the sphere of self that we all tend to live in—and both at the same time.
We live with you. I know I do. The blog is an entrée to knowing and sharing and reflecting — and all of that.
I would ask that you don’t second-guess yourself, nor question the strength of you faith or your character or whether your trajectory is on- or off- target. You faith simply IS. You already bathe in it daily. You let it manifest in ways that don’t lead you to navel gazing hermitage. It’s delightful. In Judaism, according to my Hebrew-teacher friend— the fundamental understanding is that our purpose in life is self definition. I take that to mean fully becoming what you uniquely are, unedited by the shape and form of others we see around us.
I’m miles away from that, unfortunately. You are in full stride.
My Good Friend Steve ~ such a wonderful comment. Considering that miracles are in the recognition is a most interesting idea. We had better get going on our recognizing! And self definition is also interesting to think about. Yes, we are doing that for sure. Thanks Steve for walking with me, treasure your thoughts, Felipe.
