Did some Zooming yesterday with Kira who is with a group of Physcial Therapists out of Denmark and Netherlands. I think that description of the group fell short. But I answered some questions and they will be shown with the Phil’s Camino documentary.
That is all lovely and I got a chance to gab with Kira. She was actually here two years ago with her daughter to walk so we had some history to work with. But a thought came out of this conversation, well maybe more than one but one that I have identified anyway. And that is that walking is more than an activity, it is a place.
It is a place that can be returned to time after time. Another word could be a headspace.
That actually explains a lot to me. One is physically walking, yes but also one is leaving one experience and entering another. One is leaving behind a lot of one thing to enter another place where things are different. Walking very well is an activity but in terms of the areas that we are exploring lately it might be better thought of as something else, something more. It might be easier to work that way.
Well, just so happens that we have our Monday morning walk in just a few minutes.

Phil, What you are saying here about walking being a place is profound. It will take some time to wrap my head around it. You just keep coming up with these brain teasers, don’t you? I was there the day that Kira and her daughter came to walk with you. I remember her young daughter did not speak English, and was worried about the ferry, and that Kira told us about her work with breast cancer survivors, helping them get back their upper body strength with Dragon Boat Races. I was impressed with her work, and that she had come so far to walk with you.

Henriette ~ thank you and the check is in the mail. She will be back at Christmas time. So you will get a chance to see her. Felipé.x
Great reflections on walking. We are engaged not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually when we walk.. And we are taken to a different place. Maybe it’s because we leave at least some of our distractions behind and our minds are free to wander as well as our feet.
Susan ~ exactly! Aren’t we the luckiest bunch of vagabonds! Felipé.x
