New Book On A Wednesday

Waiting for us to be together.

There is a new book out and it is a guidebook for the Camino written by an anthropologist, so a new slant. This is in conjunction with Moon Guidebooks so the title of this guide is Moon Camino de Santiago – Sacred Sites, Historic Villages, local food and wine. How about that, about covers it!

I listened to a podcast with author Beebe Bahrami last evening. It was one with Dan Mullens and the link is right here.

Beebe Bahrami’s Podcast

The podcast was a lovely advertisement for her book but it was also a great place for me to touch base with the old Camino Magic that somehow seems so far away now during this pandemic. This thing has taken up most of our time, energy and brain power these days. It is good to get a booster shot of Camino dust to bring us back to what’s really important.

I don’t really want to review this podcast here as you can easily listen to it. But Beebe is very righteous in her approach and it will pluck your heartstrings as you listen. That is what I want to tell you about. Need your heartstrings plucked?

Seems our present situation is the total opposite of how we felt about the Camino. It took care of us, everyday and every way. Sometimes that was very funky but nonetheless. Now we move around in alien territory aware that small lapses in our attention could kill or maim us. It’s oh so unfriendly. But enough of that. We know that too well. Find the time to listen to Beebe, it is an hour.

Thanks for checking in today here at the neighborhood. Always good to see you. Stay safe and stay smiling!

  1. It is so true what you said about theses days being the opposite of our heart-string sense while on Camino – everything being cared for and security demonstrated.

And Cris’s comment on day #9: a good behavior every day. So thank you for sharing Beebe’s interview info, she is a blessing!

    1. Ronaldo ~ Yea, we are in the opposite zone. It seems hellish, which it is actually. Beebe is a blessing, yes indeed. Hello to Anne. Felipé.

  2. Hi Phil,

I have to say that somehow, this year with the pandemic, I experienced something similar to the Camino, and it was the presence of the others. Somehow, we all managed in a way or another, to be there for the others: Annie’s pilgrims table, the Caminoheads bureau chiefs meeting, the team built for the blogbook; and all the other means where my circle of friends, neighbors (here in Buenos Aires) and work colleagues have been there for me, knowing I am on my own and did not see a human face for months. Despite all that, their presences made my way through December, and to me, that is very much like the Camino, at the end of the day, the fellow pilgrims were strangers to us until we met them, but their presences made us feel safe.

As for our Advent calendar prompt, also this comes from Emerson’s quote about how to succeed in life, and to find the best in others is one of his tips. And to me, that has been a learning that I continue to re-take, and when I succeed to see the best in others, even for those I truly wish have not crossed my path, I feel so grateful, it is truly a liberation… But I have to say it is easy for me to be grateful because for the most part, those who have crossed my path are humans in whom it is very easy to see the best in them.

Like you: You are the best at practicing hospitality. I am grateful for that!

    Best loves,
    Cris

    1. Oh Cris, you are so upbeat about these times. I am so glad that we are able to befriend you in our long distance way. Thank you so much for the daily prompts. You are right there with Willie Shakespeare the rest of the heavies! Felipé.x
