Midnight In Paris, The Movie

My camera can't seem to stay away from these beautiful clouds.
My camera can’t seem to stay away from these beautiful clouds.

Last might we had movie night with Our Jennifer, My Rebecca and I.  Midnight in Paris is one of my favorite movies of all time and it is standing the test of time nicely or swimmingly actually.  It’s a Woody Allen.  Some films just go beyond entertainment and this is one of them.

This film’s theme, that incredible personalities are available to us despite time, is tweaking my little brain.  This is the idea behind the Communion of Saints I am thinking.   Once again I am way above my pay grade here but struggling onward with a good heart.   Communing with shining personalities from the seeming past is totally possible I am realizing.   We are beyond woo woo here on this one no problem.

Riding in an open car laughing and conversing with Saint James, Saints Patrick and Brigid, and Saints Francis and Clare that’s where I want to see myself.   There is an empty seat, should we pull over and pick you up?

All on a Thursday morning on Vashon Island, planet earth, I think.  Love you, Felipe.

  1. i totally see it – Ford Fairlane convertible, turquoise blue and white with trademark stainless-steel “Fairlane stripe” along the side. Push button transmission, AM radio tuned to a heavenly R&B station, leather seats, long stretch of open road You and the Saints hair blowin’ back, looking for hitch hikers… Pick me up, I’m on the corner of 240th and Landers. Love you Felipe.

    1. Catherine ~ this is turning into some sort of magic bus ride. We need to stop in Iowa now too and pick up Pilgrim Farmer Juan. Alperfect, Felipe.

  2. Hola PFFelipe!

love it when you’re this far out in left field! You hit on one of my saintly themes. From the days of our indoctrination in the Baltimore Catechism, we have always been taught to look at all the saints as, well, you know, SAINTS. And I did that for a long time, until I actually started reading about the Lives of the Saints. To put it bluntly, amigo, they were Plain Folks. They got dirty, they got sick, they got discouraged, they got shot, arrowed, stabbed, speared. You name an unpleasant way to die and they did it. But to me, in between all those lines, there were real folk. Jennifer type folk, Rebecca type folk, your and my Angela type folk. There was hard-headedness in them (getting too close for comfort there Amigo?). And I’m as sure as I’m a son of Ireland that they liked to laugh and have a brew or two or three. So, yeah, if you’re motoring by in a open car with a few of the “old breed” aboard, stop and give this Irishman a lift. I’ll bet we can all tell funny stories.
Keep up the good work. Another St. Philip wouldn’t make the field too crowded.

    1. PFJ ~ truly they were and are just plain folks but so brave, so dedicated, so present, so active, so in love. What do they talk about when they are together? It would be nice to just get a peek at them from afar. Heavyweights all. And there is something that Annie taught me and that is things don’t just happen to special people in far away places in far away times. Things can happen with little old us in our time and place. And I don’t know about the St. Philip thing, maybe next year. PFF.
