A Totally New Month, How’s That?

Wow, that is almost too much! February seemed like it lasted for ten years. I guess those are Covid years. Anyway, here we are on the door step to March. Yippee!

So, St Patrick’s Day coming on the 17th. Catherine and Dana are coming over for corned beef and cabbage dinner to celebrate that one. And it is really the first real dinner party since shutdown. We are opening up again or starting to. It will be two weeks after all four of have had full vaccinations. Looking forward to that.

This reminds me of part of our conversation on Saturday, that’s Cris and myself. She was saying that they just started in Argentina with the vaccination program and she didn’t know yet how they were going to handle the priorities. She would know more in April. So this uncertainty as to whether she would be able to attend the Oasis (8/20-8/23) here is sad for me. But it has also led to some thinking as to how can we use Zoom for some of our party activities to connect with anyone who won’t be able to come. So, that is exciting. I am a little uncertain as to how that is going to integrate but I have faith.

The other very important thing that Cris and I talked about was the future of Caminoheads and the Caminoheads blog. I proposed since in my estimation she was the best prepared to take over leadership of things if I was no longer able that she consider that. And she graciously accepted to do just that. Don’t you think she is a good fit?

I tried to express that this would include great freedom to mold and shape things as she saw fit. For instance the blog could come out in English and Spanish at a certain point. That is just a for instance. I don’t want to burden her with ghosts of Felipé in how she chooses to navigate. But please support us in this.

Off I go for the Monday morning walk. It looks reasonable out there, calm and cloudy, temp of 43F.

doorstep loves, Felipé.

  1. It is possible we won’t be free to travel to Oasis in August either, we sure want to, but keep that Zoom option open.

Wow, Cris certainly is a great blog writer and I always get moved by her posts and her comments. I hope that you’ve got lots more Felipe posts in you though.

    1. Ronaldo ~ over the last year we have learned to appreciate the capabilities of Zoom and Cris is wanting to get some of this going for the Oasis. Things being uncertain and feeling the importance of holding the Oasis none the less has led to this. I’m a little slow on this but we have Cris and yourself. Thanks, Felipé.

  2. We have quite a few flowers open here and bees and moths out,no bats yet well not so as I’ve seen.been beautiful weather Sun and 15c except, typically!!!!, today when I decided to go to Whitby after hospital and it was foggy and only 9c.although the fog added to the strangeness of the ruined abbey almost expected Count Dracula to pop out but luckily it was daylight so he’d be snug in his coffin.there was a big religious synod in the English Catholic Church at Whitby in which they decided to adopt the Roman form of Christianity rather than the popular Celtic Christianity.not sure what year it was but must be over 1000 odd years back….how time flies!

    1. Kevan ~ there you are? Yea, Spring is such a thrill. I am so ready. I don’t do well with all the winter darkness. Time flies, Felipé.

  3. If you don’t like winter darkness now is not a good time to take a holiday in the south of New Zealand or Australia 🦘!I was looking at a map a few months back and discovered that Aukland is actually north of Melbourne so I guess that makes Melbourne the most southerly city with a population over 1 million.

    1. Kevan ~ OK, I will take your advice on that one. You have probably been to Australia, yes? Fascinating to think about for me. I had never been around folks from there until the Camino for me. Felipé.

  4. Yes I have but only to Sydney and Melbourne due to time constraints.i flew via Singapore.you are much nearer and you have,or did before coronavirus, direct flights from Vancouver your nearest or San Francisco.i don’t think Seattle did? Los Angeles almost certainly will but it’s well south of you.it’s very hard to get travel insurance when you have an active cancer.i think that I’d take the risk if I just went to Prague (I want to see the observatory there), Vienna or Paris basically western/central Europe but having something go wrong in Australia isn’t the same as something going wrong in Austria!as the T shirt says ‘no kangaroos in Austria’!

    1. Kevan ~ so there is a difference between Australia and Austria. You mean in terms of distance from home. Hours flying as opposed to days flying. Did you like Australia? Felipé.

  5. Aye I liked Australia and Austria!indeed with the flying distances I reckon that Vienna is 2 hours in a plane but Sydney about 24 hours from here!in fact using the trains you could probably make Vienna in about 20 hours by land from here via London and Paris.

    1. Kevan ~ I need another lifetime to think about traveling around like that. It’s fun to know all those places exist though. And it is fun meet folks from faraway places. Felipé.
