Yike, The Traffic

Made it in time to the hospital, barely.  Some days the traffic is on steroids, just like I will be in a few hours.   But the good news is that I got to take a pic of one of our guerilla flower plots that we planted recently.  The traffic was moving so slow that I got that time to screw around and use my iPad to give you a glimpse.  But I couldn’t pick out any civilized little plants there, maybe too early.

Had a long phone session with Annie last night to plan our trip to Dubuque.  That’s the Julian Dubuque Film Festival in the home territory of our friend Pilgrim Farmer John.   Who was old Julian anyway?  Have to get the minions on that.  So, the festival is Thursday through Sunday and I will be flying in Wednesday and out on Monday.   The film is scheduled to show four times, once a day.   Hopefully we will have plenty of time for question and answer sessions.

I am anxiously awaiting the meeting, the summit meeting, of Annie O’Neil, Pilgrim Farmer John and myself next month in Iowa.    It’s going to take a lot of cold beers to cool that down.  The fate of Western Civilization could hinge on this one, so stay tuned.

Here at the hospital things are started, treatment wise.  Jennifer is not with me today so I have to hold the fort myself.  Ah yes, but I will make it through and get back to the Island this afternoon.  So, take care, all is well, be present, love you, Felipe.

  1. Hola Amigo PF Felipe!

The excitement on this end is equal to or greater than the excitement on the western end of this endeavor! We have “cleared the calendar” for this semi-nuclear event in the wonderful city of Dubuque. Julien was indeed a special character who would totally qualify for a Pilgrim of the highest sort. He was an intrepid explorer who spent much time on the rivers of our yet-to-be explored country. Do check him out on Wikipedia or elsewhere. You’ll be impressed!
I am awaiting Annie’s direction on which night (or nights!) we can be part of this extravaganza. We are adaptable as can be! I’m hoping to see the Nuns “en masse” at one of the shows. What a glorious sight that would be.
I attended a funeral of one of my favorite aunts today in the hometown of Melrose. The size of my extended family and the deepness of our Irish roots ensured that it would be a memorable event, and so it was. I was tasked to read the first reading which the children had selected. It was the ode to the wonderful wife from Proverbs, Book of Wisdom, a totally appropriate selection for Dear Margie. I made it thru most of it before the voice starting the quavering that precedes the tears. And as I looked down from the podium at Uncle Harold and his four weeping girls, I knew that my weeping was just as it should be.
In one of those frequent coincidences that mark our lives, the funeral occurred exactly 16 years to the day that we celebrated the Rite of Christian Burial for my own father in this same church.
    Life goes on.
    Remember that, Amigo!!

    See you soon!

    1. PFJ ~ thanks for your great comment. I am totally looking forward to the summit three weeks away. There I am going nominate Julian Dubuque for President and looking for your support on that. Can you promise me that? Haha.
I think that the schedule of when PC (Phil’s Camino)is going to show has not been posted but once that it has we can make a plan to dovetail (woodworking term) with your scene.

Today my nurse in charge of my treatment was from Iowa and went to school in Iowa City. He knew a kinds of stuff about Dubuque and the surrounding environs. I got the scoop!

Sorry to hear about your Aunt. Sorry is just not the right word any more but I’m to tired to think of the right one. Have to go, keep in touch, Felipe, Farmer type, one each.
