Thursday Of Holy Week, Soil Temp 60 Degrees

Bunches of color here and there.

Notre Dame thoughts from Father James Martin

Hey hi, glad you dropped by. Thursday of Holy Week today and it is all bitter sweet to me, the sort of beginning of the end. Lots of drama to be had. I should try and make it to Mass tonight. There usually is a foot washing ceremony which is moving and rare.

We have opened a email account for folks coming to the Caminoheads Get Together in August to RSVP on. It is time you guys start to get serious about this. Need you to check in to that address by June 15 and it is never too early to reserve a place to stay on Vashon. That’s August 23 through the 26th here at Raven Ranch.

Trying to get the corn started which will be ripe in August for you to enjoy then. Got the field roto tilled almost a week ago and it is drying out and warming up. The soil temp yesterday was 60 degrees which is still short of the minimum of 65. I predict that we will be planting about May 1st, God willing. I am thinking about the final product and how good it is, so fresh, so sweet.

Yea, walking this morning. Have had poor attendance lately, blame it on tax time I guess or Holy Week. Oh, the seven mile pilgrimage to church is still on for tomorrow. Wish us luck on that as it is more than we are used to lately.

I think I just saw a pair of swallows, nothing swoops like they do. Swooping loves, Felipé.

  1. One of the things I think is that it’s impossible to know the future. Moreover I am superstitious about being too bold and presumptuous so when asked, for example, about sailing this summer. I reply that I will be cruising in August and September, “God willing”, although, admittedly most of my friends are put off by that phrase so I resort to “Cosmos willing” or something like that. One of my old friends lives in Sweden and was visiting his brother in Wisconsin recently. My friend is an avowed atheist and his brother is a minister in a old fashioned mid west church. Brian quoted his brother as saying, “We are on the same journey.” I think so too.

    1. Ahoi ~ I picked up “God willing” maybe fifteen years ago. I think that it is a way of expressing a certain degree of humbleness. We admit that we don’t know it all. We admit that there is only so much that we control on this journey. The two brothers make an interesting vision for me to ponder. But same journey, yes agreed. Thanks for being with us. Felipé.

  2. Dear Felipe,
Good luck in the pilgrimage! I am sure you will be fine!

Did I say I am going to the Caminoheads Get Together? I thought to say it, just to make it clear. I am going to email to the account too, just in case you are not counting me when planting the corn! 😀

August is on its way loves,
    Cris

    1. Cris ~ we are so very much counting on you coming! As a matter of fact I am asking you right now to be Master of Ceremonies for the event. You remember, this was all your idea in the first place. Am giving all the Bureau Chiefs that are going to be here a job.

Here now, I am being lazy this morning in anticipation of all the walking this afternoon. It is wet and cloudy here today, perfect for a Good Friday. Looking forward to seeing you. Felipé.x

  3. Dear Phil, I agree. I can’t remember when I haven’t used the term “God willing” for the same reasons. I don’t feel comfortable being presumptuous. It’s only in recent years I have felt I had to be careful of who I say it to. To me it means something broad and outside of understanding but a lot of folks have developed such attitudes about religion that if I want to express myself and be understood I just change it a little. To me “Universe willing” is not different from “God willing” but some people find it more acceptable. I guess that’s a sort of humility too. Take care, Aho’i
