The Next Storm

We had tapas here a few weeks ago, what happened?

The next storm is coming in around 4 PM today. The weatherman is talking about 4-8 inches in this one. We are all patching things together and helping each other out. I’m about ready to make a big pasta sauce to feed people stopping by.

Just phoned in to the hospital to cancel an appointment I have for tomorrow morning. Don’t need an extra headache. Still have to make it in Wednesday and Friday so that’s enough fun.

Yesterday at some point when the cable come back on I was watched a clip from the Mr Rogers show. It was the one where he had Itzak Perlman on playing his violin. That was lovely but the important part was that he was shown also walking with his crutches. He had polio as a child. So, he was shown in two different modes and his quote (roughly) was, “I had to separate my ability from my disability.” I can so relate to that with my cancer journey.

The day dawned today with beautiful blue skies and chilly temps, had that Colorado look. Now the clouds have rolled in and it is starting to look ominous. Well, maybe I’ll start the pasta sauce so it can simmer. OK, that’s the situation here at the ranch.

Fun times love, Felipé.

  1. Mi Amigo Felipe!

I know you empathize with us Midwestern Folk, but you’re going “above and beyond” with your sharing of our snow woes! We’re also on the watch for 7 to 8 inches of new snow tomorrow, on top of the two or so inches we got early this morning. It’s now “snow on top of ice on top of snow”, all adding up to treacherous goings on outside. Our son in law needed a tow out of the county road we all drive daily yesterday, and this morning in continuing the prep for our jump-off this week for points west, I did two “instant downs”, faster than a platoon sergeant could say “hit the deck!” All body parts still attached, but expecting some colorful bruises. 🙂
Please stay safe our there, and remember, the snow will melt quickly for you folks, so don’t try to move it all yourself.

    1. PFJ ~ we are on the verge of setting some records here. Could due without the drama myself. Just got to keep ahead of the damage here. This brand of snow is incredibly heavy, just crunching everything. One of my favorite trees along the trail toppled over. More fun to come. Good luck with everything there. PFF.

  2. “I had to separate my ability from my disability.”

What a great concept to keep in the lens of our rose-colored glasses as we see people (and creation) and make assumptions about their abilities, what they might do with their lives and not only how you might have a chance to help them but how they can help you. So in addition to that statement, I need to keep in mind “I had to separate their ability from their disability.”

Thank you as always for your words, sharing your remarkable story and being there for people to visit. Hugs to all your family.

PS: We will be there in April to see you before departing for Spain!

    1. Ronaldo ~ April! Hope it stops snowing by then. Looking forward to seeing you and Ann. Felipé.
