Snow Day

Beautiful afternoon!

Feeling pretty isolated here at the moment. About a foot of snow has accumulated here at the ranch so far from this storm. And another one rolling in tomorrow. The power and cable are down to the whole island. Gee wiz.

I got the 4 wheel drive Suburban out this morning for a spin around this end of the island. Catherine and Dana and I went down the road to help a friend clear off her greenhouse. What a chore, we were all exhausted. Good clean fun I guess.

This looks like the old fifty year storm to me. Originally I got stuck here on Vashon fifty years ago in a similar looking snow situation and never left. Oh, Wiley just called and the IGA up in town just got power, progress.

The sun is breaking through and it’s doing the winter wonderland thing outside. Maybe I should get some pix. Well, there is is for now.

Hunkered down good loves, Felipé.

PS ~ the power came on just in time to cook dinner!

  1. So glad you posted! I have power again too! So glad about that.
Are you going to venture to Mass tomorrow?
They cancelled World Day of the Sick, so all the Malta people prayed at 9:30am when it would have happened. I think I’m going to be praying at 8 and 10:30 tomorrow for the bravenoodle heads who will go. There
were three people who cleared out the parking lot!
Hope you have a great dinner, you and Rebecca!

    1. Jessika ~ hi. I’m back! Our wifi was not functioning til just now. Catherine and I just didn’t think about going to Mass. And I am trying to cancel an appointment that I have at Swedish for tomorrow morning. Are you doing OK? Our landline is down but my cell seems to be operating. Felipé.x

  2. Felipe, I have been seeing some beautiful pictures from your island on FB of this white, winter wonderland that has transformed Vashon. Such splendor has blanketed the town and landscape with snow. I have fond memories of visiting Raven Ranch in the snow last year and how differently my experience was due to it’s presence. That is very good news about the power and I hope it continues to work during this next storm. Have you become inspired by the weather and warmth of your wood stove fire towards any thoughts of poetry?

    1. Rho ~ the snow here this time is deeper and heavier with more storms to come than last year’s. I may try and do one lap around the Camino this afternoon. It is a foot acculturation so walking is getting difficult. Almost time for the snowshoes. Anyway, my poetry has suffered in all this. Well, I am such a rookie that everything bothers me. Don’t seem to have the space to explore it right now. But I have tasted it and something will draw me back. Thanks for checking in, Felipé.x

      1. Felipe, You are welcome and this morning I had another thought about your poetry journey. There is another approach I learned a few years ago that could help as you explore this new realm. I will send you an explanation with a few samples of mine this week and you can see if that helps. If you are intrigued and want to learn more, we can talk.
        Stay warm and dry!
