Ruminating

The corn this morning, five to six inches tall.

I can feel myself turning over my impressions of the Lourdes trip.  It is a process not dissimilar from working in the compost department of the ranch.  Components tend to need their own time to break down into something usable.  They need air and moisture and warmth helps to speed things up.

What I am getting at is that lessons learned from these pilgrimages aren’t just always obvious, vivid or earth shaking.  That doesn’t mean that they are not there or not significant but they may require some rumination as a riddle or parable does.  We have to gnaw on impressions a while to uncover their meaning for us.

I’m off to Burton Community Church in a minute to talk about Lourdes.  They don’t have a regular pastor there which means that they are sometimes looking for amateur acts like mine to fill in for the sermon.  I am going to give them ten to fifteen minutes of the Lourdes story according to Felipe.  This is the kickoff of my speaking engagements on this new topic.  They are a forgiving crowd.

Tomorrow I am off to the hospital for a small surgical procedure to work on my chemo port, out with the old and in with the new.  So pray for me and the doc please that we may get through that gracefully.

Sunday loves, Felipe.

  1. Felipe, I would like to challenge the idea that you are an amateur at speaking about faith, pilgrimage, God working in our lives. In my opinion the little white church at the only south end four-way should hire you as their regular pastor. At any rate, hope the talk went well and many prayers tomorrow when you get your new port. Makes me think of my Dad when he would be getting a new car (he put 90,000 miles a year on his and so he traded every 18 months) My Mom and I would await his arrival home with the new wheels. We never knew exactly what he would get, we only knew it would be American and it would be a convertible. Mom and I would be all a tingle waiting for his arrival home with the new car. Whether your port has fins, whitewall tires, a sun roof or a running board, can’t wait to hear how she runs.

    1. Catherine ~ grrreat story about Dad and the new cars. Yea, the new port. Not quite as exciting as new wheels but never the less I am totally grateful for this event. I’ll have to ask the doc about model options. Hehe. Good walk and tapas today, thanks, Felipe.x

  2. I saw Rebecca this week and she said you outlasted your chemo port! Praying for the re-porting tomorrow.

In the corn field photo I am in awe of the weed freeness of it, at least at some distance:). Good job there. Such a lot of work, contemplative work, but still the back!

So happy the blog is back…

    1. Michelle ~ this year I planted it 12” apart instead of 8” and was able to get the hula hoe in between the plants and it made weeding so much easier so yea it looks way cleaner and is. Yea, off to the hospital tomorrow for the re port. Thanks for the prayers. Hoping for an uneventful event. Hope to see you soon, Felipe.x
