Recovering From The Shindig

We had a heck of a wedding here at Raven Ranch. It was all outdoors in a big pasture that we have been grooming for months. The weather was warm and dry, not hot, just perfect. The ceremony was short but not too short and full of love. Wiley and Henna’s vows were so thoughtful and sweet. We were all balling.

Our good friend smoked a lot of meat for the feed. There were three kegs of different brew, one a local Vashon one. There was no wedding cake but a wedding cobbler. All very down home.

I have a few pics for you today but I haven’t sorted through all of the ones that have come in to me. Speaking of me, I really did enjoy myself at the event. I have been involved with so many deals in the past where it was all I could do but to be glad they were over. But I did have a good time although I only made it to 11 o’clock and the party went on all night. But the cops never came so I guess we are still loved by our neighbors.

We had a nice walk and tapas yesterday afternoon. I wanted to keep the trail open even with the wedding going on and we were able to do that. Three pilgrims showed up yesterday that were really fun and energetic. One had taken a class with our buddy Catalina down at Santa Clara so we got some news from down there.

Off walking again here in a few minutes. The morning is bright and cool and the blackberries are ripe for the picking along the trail. So come by when you get a chance and see for yourself.

Blackberry loves, Felipe.

  1. Hola, Felipe!

Congrats to all! sounds like a magnificent event in all respects. I am now safely ensconced back home after two weeks away, one pedaling yet again across our wonderful state of Iowa, and a tagged-on second week enjoying reuniting with all of Cathy’s kin in the middle of Texas. I was able to combine those travels with visits to Marine buddy Ken and his beautiful wife of 50 years, Tory (veterans of Phil’s Camino on Vashon). Stopped also at another Ragbrai veteran in Dallas and took full advantage of their wonderful Texas-sized hospitality. While with Kenny, we discussed the most likely time next year to visit you and family on Vashon. It looks like D-Day for landing will be sometime in May, ’19. My advanced planning schedule has me shoving off on trusty bicycle from LA in early March with arrival in Chicago mid-April to allow for return home in time to plant corn and soybeans. There may be as many as five of us. Does that require some kind of special permit on Vashon for old warriors in one place??? I have alerted Annie that it may require some “documentary necessity”. 🙂

The grass and weeds took note of my absence to grow like mad while I was away. My dear Cathy flew on to Denver to spend a week with her beloved sister, Bev, so I’m alone to fight back the elements. Wish I had some of those delicious wild blackberries to munch on while at it.

Again many congrats for a beautiful wedding!

    1. PFJ ~ thanks so much for the update on your whereabouts. So glad that you are hale and hardy enough to do your cycling with your friends and neighbors. Sounds like a beautiful thing to have the Marines land here in the Spring. We can rent you some sort of bunkhouse in close proximity. The wedding was amazing but we are still doing dishes today. Will be putting up more pix. Thanks for your buddyship. PFF

  2. Best wedding ever! Plus, parent of kids involved are all our age, so it was two parties at once! The Steves/Stevens had a great time, connected some dots, and came away with functional leatherwork, too. Saw old friends and heard good news and cried and grinned a lot. Delightful.
(Back to Swedish Wednesday? I’ll be on the road to Ashland and can’t stop in this trip, but back again after the 17th)
Oh— loved your shirt! I’ll send some video, too.

    1. Steve ~ glad that you could make it for the wedding. It was amazing and a very cool event. I got one treatment off from the hospital so next time back at Swedish will be the 15th and the 17th. See you, Felipe.

  3. So so so lovely! What a treat, what a celebration! I took some video, too, and will get it over to Jordan. It was so much fun! Thank you thank you thank you! And thank you to all who made incredible cobblers! They were amazing!

    1. Annie ~ it was a good’un. Still doing dishes though. Thanks for coming up to be with us. Felipe.x
