Earplugs In

Back at the treatment center and it is noisy and my ear plugs are in so I can get to  Blogland.  There.  What kind of mischief are we going to get into today?

This morning I had a glimpse of something extraordinary.  I was just driving on the Island and suddenly it was like a veil was lifted and I was viewing a bigger picture than normal.  I know, pretty woo woo.  It didn’t last for long but was definitely there.  I remember thinking can I function safely here.  I was driving and was doing well at that so I concluded yes I could.

It wasn’t as  though I didn’t have my own thoughts but they were joined to a larger vision that’s all.  I don’t know what else to say about that but it didn’t seem so complicated or impossible a place to get to.  Maybe it is a deal like prayer or contemplation where you practice spending longer and longer times there.  Yea.

You know, this is a journal of my journey and things come up and I report on them.  It is partly cloudy out right now and that would be a report.  In the present everything sort of has the same value, it all seems equally important.  But somethings  are more important in retrospect for seeing patterns or trajectory say.  So, just reporting.

I talked about this before but let’s review.  A book that I read about the Korean War written by a young Marine officer who later became a famous writer left a big impression on me.  At one point he listed all the things that were in his pockets that day.  Seems very mundane, as in why bother but it put flesh on the bones of his story.  Things that we take for granted in the present may just be important to someone down the road  so I continue.

I think that I will read a few poems from my Brian Doyle book.

See you tomorrow, love, Felipe.

  1. What I like is how this blog makes it seem like I’ve done some Camino laps with you and shared your thoughts. And we are connected. Wish I was there today to chat and see what kind of shenanigans we can accomplish. It’s a rainy day here in June in California. I love how the lines of Phil’s Camino connects so many of us and makes such a beautiful tapestry of friendship and life.
    Love you, friend!!!

    1. Esther ~ what nice things you say on your rainy day. I have fun with the blog, I think that is important. Although today I am totally at a loss at what to write about. Thanks for the tapas pic on FB. Looks so nice in the shade there. Somehow maybe we all can get together this season. Miss you and Daniel. Felipe.x

  2. Hola Felipe! I read all of your beautiful blogs but usually all at once, about once a week. Please keep feeding us your bits of wisdom and the little things about your days that cheer us on.

For example, today you wrote: “but let’s review,” and that was such a perfect Kelly-ism and reminded me of those couple of happy days we walked together in Spain and all the rest. I got a Klassic Kelly text message from him on Saturday – they were in Leon (Leon of the magnificent cathedral!) and he’s averaging about 15km per day but Rick and Zoe are going twice as fast so Our Kelly has figured out the bus and taxi system on his own so they can all end up in Santiago together.

I came across a wonderful quote from Pope Francis that reminds me of El Camino and all the people we met along The Way: “Quite a few years of life have strengthened my conviction that each and everyone’s existence is deeply tied to that of others: life is not time merely passing by, life is about interactions.”

    Alperfect!

    Love,
    Mary

    1. MM ~ Thanks for your friendship and support. Feeling a little shaky this week maybe. Yes, Kelly back on the Camino and mostly unsupervised. I’d like to be the old fly on the wall. Hey how about those pics of Angela’s wedding, beautiful hey? She is going to be in the States this summer. I forget the dates. She is threatening to stop by. Will you be around? And I loved the Pope’s TED. Miss you, Felipe.x
