A Day At The Institute

This pic is showing up sideways but maybe that is OK. Our two newly planted American chestnuts are leafing out.

A tough one today, had to get up at 0430 to make it all happen. I got my scan accomplished and my testing started. Waiting to see the man himself in a few minutes. It’s a rainy day today so I don’t feel so bad about being inside. Perfect day to be here.

So my numbers are all good and my side effects are under control. I was a little disappointed by the scan results in that there was slight growth. But it is less than what triggers the end of the trial so we are staying the course. No growth would be great and shrinkage would be better than that but for now this seems to be a win.

Yup, for now I am back at the ranch exhausted. Maybe read my book and call it a day. Tomorrow is another day. I have a walk in the morning and a Zoom meeting with Catalina in the afternoon.

Alright see you all later loves, Felipé.

  1. Hi Felipe, I know what you mean about labs and numbers. Some of mine were up, some down last time I was in. All, though, were in the safe zone. What is funny is I told my oncologist I was getting a low-dose vitamin C IV, 10 grams along with some other vitamins and he shuttered, “that’s so much.” I said we can watch the numbers, right? After all, it was just last summer I was pumped full of melphalan, a derivative of mustard gas, as part of the stem cell transplant. Surely, this nutritional cocktail is a non-event in comparison.

    1. Curt ~ it’s tricky business both the chemistry and the psychology of it. There are all the numbers and then there is all that can’t really be measured. The whole thing puts you through the wringer, I know that much, even for a veteran like me. But on top of that God continues to keep me alive and functioning so can I complain? Good to hear from you. Felipé.

  2. Phil, so relieved to hear from you. What an exhausting day! Get some rest tomorrow. Just sit in your yard under that big tree and fall asleep reading a 📚. Steady the course. All is well. 🙏🏻

    1. Henriette ~ yea, there were technical difficulties and that throws the whole schedule of events off. And the Institute is all barebones, no food, no coffee, no water, no coloring books, replacement people all over. They try their best to try and keep things running smoothly but… Felipé.x
